Congress – Marseille

September 2018 Delivered to IFPPC

35th national congress

Our client chose us to organise their 35th national congress last September. The previous year, we had picked Budapest for their 34th congress.

Our client’s specifications : a place with good weather, outdoor activities and premium services. That is why we chose the city of Marseille and the Intercontinental Marseille Hôtel Dieu 5*****.

High on the Panier hill, with its terraces overlooking the Vieux-Port, the hotel was created out of the former Hotel-Dieu, a majestic building from 18th century. It offers exceptional views of the emblematic basilica Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde and down to old Marseilles. The hotel has 194 rooms, two restaurants, a panoramic terrace, a spa and several reception rooms, an ideal place for the conference.

The congress lasted four days. Two members of our team were on site throughout to supervise the event.

The opening night and the main congress events took place within in the hotel, while for the second night, we organised a gala dinner outside, on the terraces of Fort Ganteaume, where the participants enjoyed the glorious weather and views over the city, its monuments and the Vieux-Port.

For all the guests, we also organised a tour of Marseille and nearby Aix-en-Provence.

Saturday was dedicated to outdoor activities. We suggested 5 different options for the participants to choose from :

Electric bicycling along the top of the famous calanques

A boat trip and swimming in the calanques

Hiking deep into in the calanques

An electric bicycle tour of Marseille

Sailing a 40 feet boat along the coast

The day finished at the magnificent Château Ricard, also called Château de Sainte-Marthe. This castle is the former house of Paul Ricard, businessman and creator of the well-known aperitif. The participants enjoyed a typical Marseille night with a game of boules, tasting local products served, of course, with a traditional Ricard.
